Getting called to the principal’s office is enough to make anyone’s heart drop, but there’s no need to stress if you are visiting with Insight Academy of Arizona’s (ISAZ) principal, Christine Twidwell.

With 21 years of experience in education and nine of those at ISAZ, Christine brings skill, knowledge and dedication to her role.

Before finding herself in online education, Christine played an active role in the brick-and-mortar educational setting, including teaching traditional high school math and coaching high school softball.

After more than a decade of traditional teaching experience, Christine was looking for a change and found the perfect solution in virtual learning. Her journey to online education wasn’t just a career move, it was a calling.

She explains, “Online school was an opportunity to remain in education and provide quality education to kids while they maintained flexibility and focus for their goals that the traditional in-person school model could not provide.”

And that’s exactly what she’s been doing for the last nine years, helping students from all over Arizona access a meaningful, personalized and flexible learning experience. Christine first joined ISAZ a teacher, then became vice principal before taking over the principal role. Over her tenure at ISAZ, Christine also led the national K12 math team, supported the math intervention program and worked as the data and instruction specialist.

Christine’s goal as an administrator and leader is to ensure all students have the opportunity to achieve their goals in a flexible and safe learning environment. Whether a student is working toward credit recovery, traveling for sports, managing family commitments or simply looking for a quieter learning path, Christine and the academic team at ISAZ offers individualized support to all students.

Christine values the way virtual learning allows her to connect with students on a personal level and understand exactly what they need to succeed.

“The best part of my job as principal is the ability to make personal connections with students by phone, in the online classroom or in-person,” says Christine. “These connections and relationships are formed quickly, and it supports student success in many ways.”

As the 2025-2026 school year approaches, Christine is diving into the school’s transition to the new Canvas platform, a state-of-the art tool which helps teachers organize assignments, provides seemly collaboration between students and teachers, offers students the ability to easily track due dates and much more.

She hopes to continue growing ISAZ and supporting the team that makes ISAZ an amazing school.

When she is not working, Christine spends her time exploring the outdoors and enjoying the beautiful weather of her hometown of Flagstaff, Ariz. She loves to hike, camp, run, read and travel with her family.

Christine looks forward to logging back in as principal for the 2025-26 school year and celebrating her 10th year at ISAZ. She is most excited to reconnect with teachers and returning students while helping the new ISAZ Eagles transition into the school year.
